Mixol tints are highly resistant to heat or frost damage. They won't dry out or thicken (because they are binder-free until you add them to our products so they will dry), so there will be a very long shelf/shop life. Check out our offering of oxide-based colors (03, 04, 05, 14, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 & 25). The oxide-based colors are made from inorganic pigments, which make them colorfast, fade-resistant, and weatherproof. These oxide colors are ideal for exterior applications or where UV fading may occur. Cleanup is very easy with soap and water but if the pigments are mixed into our oils, clean up is best with a solvent. Mixol tints are not flammable or hazardous.
We love using fade-resistant Mixol Universal Oxide Pigments in our finishes when you want to add color! Mixol Pigments are the most concentrated, highest-quality tints on the market today. They are compatible with most water, solvent, lacquer, and oil-based stains, coatings, shellacs, epoxies, waxes, varneshes, wood fillers, etc. Ease of tinting or mixing is often cited as the main attribute of Mixol, along with the sophisticated color palette.

Directions:
To add Mixol Oxides to our finishes, add the pigment at your desired intensity directly into our oils and mix very well (shaking works the best we’ve found!). A good ratio starting point is 12 oz of Mixol added to 1 gallon of Heritage Oils. This gives you the strongest color before acting like paint (so you can still see some wood grain at this ratio). The Mixol Oxide tints are the richest and highest quality we’ve found, so I think you’ll be impressed and love the expanded color options while still working with our natural oil finishes. Feel free to contact us for more information.
Clean Up:
Cleaning up Mixol pigments is very easy, just use soap and water. Once the Mixol is mixed into the oil, use Pure Citrus Solvent or any solvent or mineral sprits for clean up.
Product of Germany.
Composition
We disclose ALL ingredients that we use. Heritage Natural Finishes contain NO petroleum products, or metallic drying agents whatsoever! We use only the highest quality ingredients from the most sustainable sources possible. What you see here is what you get. If you have any questions, you can always call us!
Tung Oil
100% pure with no additives. This is the highest quality tung oil available; drying harder and forming a more durable finish than linseed oil alone. Both oils are dryer-free and slightly heat-treated (polymerized).
Special Aged Linseed Oil
Obtained from flax grown in the Red River Valley of the U.S. and Canada. It is purified and refined by natural oxidation and blowing, and dries as clear or clearer than tung oil, with none of the characteristic discoloration that is typical of hardware store varieties. No other finishing oil penetrates as deeply into wood.
Beeswax
Only filtered, chemical and bleach-free white beeswax wax is used. Beeswax adds visual depth of grain, smoothness, and elastic durability. Beeswax forms a skim coat that keeps the finish on the wood, slowing the evaporation of the solvent, which gives the oils more time for absorption.
Pure Citrus Solvent
This is the purest form of citrus turpenes (solvent), extracted from cold-pressed orange peel oil. This is the only solvent used in our finishes, and is also sold separately for thinning product or cleaning up. Pure Citrus Solvent is a safer alternative to mineral spirits, and other harsh solvents and can be used the same way.
Pine Rosin
Gum rosin extracted from pine sap and separated from the turpentine. This is the gum rosin found in heart pine, giving the wood its hardness and durability. We use only top grade, crystal-free, water-white rosin. No synthetic resins are used.
