Application Process
Pioneer Wood Patina is a powder treatment that can be applied to new wood. It gives the wood a brown/ grey appearance.
Sold in 1 quart, 1 gallon, and 5 gallon concentrates. To give your new wood a brown/ grey patina, dissolve the concentrate in water and apply it with a brush, roller, or sprayer.
Pioneer Wood Patina is not a paint or stain. It is a patina that matures into a brown/ grey color after a few weeks.
Please note that the Pine wood species does not work well inside, however, it works very well if left in the sun and rain for a few weeks.
This product is safe for the environment! It can be safely used around gardens, lawns, etc.
Directions:
-for 1 quart (.95 liters), mix the 1 quart powder concentrate package (5 grams) with 1 quart of water.
-for 1 gallon (3.8 liters), mix the 1 gallon powder concentrate package (20 grams) with 1 gallon of water.
-for 5 gallons (19 liters), mix the 5-gallon powder concentrate package (100 grams) with 5 gallons of water.
-The temperature of the water does not matter.
-Once mixed, let the solution sit for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, test on a small area.
-Using a brush, roller, or sprayer, cover the boards with the solution, ensuring the entire board is completely wet.
-Once dry, you can use any Heritage Natural Finishes oil or Liquid Wax over the top.
Coverage:
- 1 quart (.95 liters) covers 37-50 SF
- 1 gallon (3.8 liters) covers 150-200 SF
- 5 gallon (19 liters) covers 750-1000 SF
Application precautions:
-May stain hands, clothes, and other building materials such as stucco, concrete, window frames, etc.
-Pine wood species will need rain and sunshine to mature the patina. Pine boards for interior applications must be left outside until the desired look is achieved.
Clean up:
-Use soap and water.
Storage:
-Store either the powder concentrate or your mixed solution in an air-tight container.
Shelf life for Pioneer Wood Patina:
-Powder concentrate- indefinite
-Pre-mixed with water- minimum 5 years
